Become a Volunteer Advocate

You can be a lifeline. Right from your own home.

Volunteers

Are you a compassionate listener? Comfortable talking on the phone? Passionate about helping others?
If so, we have a meaningful opportunity for you.

Family Violence Project is seeking volunteer advocates to support survivors of domestic abuse through our 24-hour helpline. From the comfort of your own home, you can make a real difference—providing safety, support, and a listening ear to those in crisis.

No experience? No problem. Volunteers receive free training through our Core Advocacy, Intervention, Response, and Ethics Training (CAIRET), where you’ll learn:

  • How to support survivors of domestic violence with empathy and care

  • How to build safety plans with callers

  • What services and resources are available through FVP

  • How to stay supported yourself—FVP staff are always a phone call away while you’re on shift

  • Interviews must be completed by Friday, May 23, 2025 at 4:30 PM

  • The training is free, but a $25 donation is encouraged to help cover background check costs. If that’s not financially possible, don’t worry—no one will be turned away due to inability to donate.
