What
is Menswork?
Menswork
offers 48-week group education classes in
Kennebec County for men who have verbally,
mentally, or physically abused a woman in
an intimate relationship. Because many men
who abuse their partners also abuse their
children, Menswork also address the connections
between intimate partner abuse and child abuse.
The goal of Menswork is to stop violence and
promote individual accountability and respect.
Menswork is certified by the Maine Department
of Corrections.
Each weekly class costs $35.00. Additionally,
there is a $50.00 initial screening and intake
fee. All fees must be paid before class
or intake. Group members are expected
to refrain from any abusive activities during
the program. Participants are also expected
to actively participate in the program by
attending classes, volunteering information
and experience, and completing writing assignments.
