Donate to The Family Violence project !

Donate Your Used Cell Phones to FVP: The Family Violence Project is accepting donations of used cell phones that are not currently activated or connected to a cellular service provider. Your used cell phone will be used in one of two ways - either as an important safety tool for those experiencing domestic violence or as a fundraiser. Cell phones that are in good working condition will be cleared of information and loaned for use as an emergency 911 phone to those experiencing domestic violence. Cell phones that are not in good working condition or that have been collected in excess of the needs of our emergency program, will be used as a fundraising tool.

Our cell phone fundraiser program is sponsored by Shelter Alliance (www.shelteralliance.net), a program of cell phone recycling company GRC Wireless Recycling (www.grcrecycling.com). Through Shelter Alliance, nonprofit organizations raise funds through the collection & recycling of used cell phones, and businesses & consumers donate & recycle cell phones to benefit nonprofit participants.

Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program: Year-round we reach out to area groups, agencies, and businesses to ask that you consider adopting a family for the winter holidays. Previous program participants report that they thoroughly enjoyed choosing, shopping, and wrapping gifts for our families. The response from the families has been equally enthusiastic. They are grateful not only for the beautifully wrapped gifts, but for the knowledge that the community has taken a stand on issues of domestic violence and abuse - and truly does care about them.

We are hoping to hear from YOU for the 2006 / 2007 season.

Books Behind Bars: The Family Violence Project is collecting books to be donated to the inmate library at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. Most acceptable are modern and up-to-date books on self-improvement. Instructional books such as arts and crafts, carpentry, or other topics are also good. Books on addressing the effects of addiction and abuse are appreciated. Novels are welcomed, although books with gratuitous violence are screened out.
